Feature areas at The National Running Show 2019 unveiled

The organisers of the multi award-winning National Running Show have confirmed an impressive range of feature areas and What’s On schedule for the event taking place on 19th-20th January 2019 at Birmingham’s NEC.

The feature areas were immensely popular at the inaugural show in 2018 and visitors to the 2019 event will be treated to an even greater range of interactive sponsor areas, where they will be able to speak to the experts, get advice and try out products first-hand. Making the show a fun, participatory experience, this is a fantastic chance for runners to find out more about specialist areas of interest and make informed choices for the year ahead.

After a highly positive reception in 2018, a number of familiar faces and industry experts will be returning to the 2019 event. Run3D will again be sponsoring 3D Gait Analysis, where they are able to assess an individual’s running style, determine root causes of any injury and advise on key areas to improve efficiency and performance. Run3D will also be offering free muscoskeletal (MSK) strength and flexibility testing at their MSK Clinic, new for 2019.

Go Run Right return with The Run Clinic, in which they teach simple and effective drills to become a better runner. The team will be running two different sessions throughout the show, the ‘Strong Runner Workout’ designed to get participants working hard and ‘Agile Runner’, a fun movement and agility session. Foundation Training complement the focus on running technique with their Foundation Training Method, a system of exercises led by certified instructors to master safe, efficient movement patterns.

Sports Injury Fix is again hosting The Treatment Room and providing a range of experts offering physiotherapy, osteopathy, podiatry, sports therapy, sports rehabilitation and more. Cardiff School of Sports and Health Sciences is also bringing a new Podiatry Clinic to The National Running Show in its second year.

The Nutrition Advice Zone sponsored by Go Faster Food is a must for any runner wanting to learn about optimal fuelling for training and competition. With hydration also key, The Sweat Test Zone powered by Precision Hydration will be offering a free online sweat test and talking to runners about their hydration strategy. An Advanced Sweat Test at a discounted rate is also available to book in advance for those wanting to create a fully personalised hydration plan.

Also worth exploring are The Treadmill Try-Outs sponsored by Noble-Pro, The Test Track and The Running Skills Theatre. And at the heart of the show is The Run Café, a meeting point and central hub where visitors can relax, unwind and refuel.

Complementing the feature areas is an impressive What’s On programme, which kicks off with a Grand Opening and ribbon cutting on Day 1 with athletes Roger Black, Iwan Thomas and Jo Pavey. This is matched by a Grand Opening on Day 2 with Paula Radcliffe. Show hosts Susie Chan and Ben Smith will go on to present a captivating series of talks and panel discussions with the Grand Opening stars plus many more globetrotting adventurers and endurance runners.

Not only will visitors to the show have the chance to hear from some of the biggest names in running on the Main Stage, they will also have the chance to meet with them one-to-one at the Ask the Experts zone. Six experts will be available continuously throughout the show for 15-minute 1-2-1 coaching sessions, for which bookings should be made on the morning of each day.

Over 28,500 tickets have already been sold for this innovative expo and it is on course to be a sell-out in its second year.

Mike Seaman, Director of Raccoon Events, commented:We are proud to have an incredible selection of feature areas at The National Running Show in 2019. The feature areas were a real highlight of the last show and prove just how much the running community wants to get involved and chat to those in the know, coming away confident and inspired. We’d like to thank all our sponsors, partners and speakers for their involvement in what is a thrilling programme from start to finish. We can’t wait to open our doors in January and welcome everyone to this superb celebration of running.”
