As the founder of Asian Women Run, I have built a thriving community from scratch with a simple mission: to help Asian women become more active, stronger, confident, and connected through running. What started as a personal passion has grown into a supportive movement that has positively impacted the lives of countless women, many of whom have told me that joining the community has transformed their physical and mental wellbeing.
My own running journey began with my mum, who inspired me to lace up my trainers and take that first step. At the age of 75, she continues to be my greatest inspiration. Together, we completed the London Marathon, a story that attracted mainstream media attention and demonstrated that running has no age limit.
As a carer, running has become my outlet, my source of resilience, and an essential part of who I am. It gives me the strength to support others while prioritising my own wellbeing. Through Asian Women Run, I am passionate about breaking down barriers, increasing representation in the running community, and showing women that they belong in the sport regardless of their background or experience.
Our work has been recognised nationally, including appearances on BBC Breakfast’s Rise and Shine and receiving an award for International Women’s Day.
