John O’Groats to Land’s End in 10 days
In September 2026, I’m travelling the length of the UK to raise money for Sophie’s Legacy, a charity founded in memory of my niece Sophie.
The challenge will include:
• 24km swim
• 1,500km cycle
• 130km run
1,650km in 10 days. No rest days.
The route starts at John O’Groats in the far north of Scotland and finishes at Land’s End in Cornwall.
Over 10 days, I’ll swim the length of Loch Tay, cycle the length of Britain and run 130km along the South West Coat Path to the finish line in Lands End.
The challenge is due to finish on 18 September 2026, marking five years since Sophie died.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Sophie’s Legacy was founded in Sophie’s memory by my sister-in-law Charlotte.
Since then, the charity has gone on to support countless families and continues to make a real difference.
I’ve always wanted to travel the length of the UK under my own steam. There’s something about getting from one end of the country to the other through your own effort that has always appealed to me.
When I started thinking about how I could raise money for Sophie’s Legacy, the idea grew into something much bigger.
I’ve never completed a triathlon before, but after more than a year of training, I’m committed to seeing this challenge through and raising as much as I can for a cause that means so much to our family.
SUPPORT SOPHIE’S LEGACY
Sophie’s Legacy supports families when a child is in hospital, helping with the practical things that can make a difficult time a little easier.
This includes:
• Parent support packs
• Food and drink for parents staying with their child in hospital
• Travel support, clothing and emergency essentials
• Practical support for families when they need it most
The charity also campaigns for improvements that benefit children and families in hospital.
All funds raised through this challenge will be donated directly to Sophie’s Legacy.
