Asian Women Run was founded by a Mum-daughter duo from West London, Pritpal and Minreet, with a shared passion for breaking barriers and creating a space where Asian women feel seen, represented and empowered through running.

My mum introduced me to running in my 40s, and it completely changed my life. As a carer, running became more than just exercise it became a way to look after my own wellbeing, build confidence and connect with others.

In 2023, my mum took on the London Marathon but had to stop at mile 17 after suffering severe cramps. Just five months later, she was diagnosed with blood cancer. Despite facing treatment and losing the ability to run and at times even walk she never lost her determination. She told me to keep running and promised that she would come back stronger.

This year, we made that dream a reality by completing the London Marathon together.

That journey inspired me to create Asian Women Run because women like us are still underrepresented in the running community. We wanted to build a welcoming, supportive space where Asian women particularly those who may never have seen themselves as runners could feel they belong.

Today, our community has grown to more than 150 members, with the majority being women over 40. Every run is about more than miles; it's about confidence, friendship, representation and showing that it's never too late to start.

Our mission is simple: to inspire more women to believe in themselves, embrace movement and realise that running is for everyone. Just as my mum inspired me, I hope Asian Women Run inspires others to take that first step.
