25–26 Jan 2025 274 days to go! #RunShow

Catching up with Active Leisure Events, National Running Show South exhibitor

With only 4 months away from the National Running Show South 2021, we thought it would be great to ask our exhibitor Active Leisure Events a little update about what attendees can expect and other fun running questions.

Here is their team’s answer to our 5 quick-fire questions:

  1. What can visitors expect to find at your stand at the show?

Active Leisure Events organise and host the award-winning Chester Marathon, Half and 10K. Taking place on three separate days throughout the year, the Chester 10K on 18th July, the Half Marathon on 19th September and Marathon & Metric Marathon on 3rd October. A vast wealth of information can be found about all three races from our representatives at the stand, we will be hosting competitions for free race places and free giveaways.

  1. Will you have any product launches or exclusive products available at the show?

We will be hosting competitions for free race places and will be giving away free product samples from our sponsors.

  1. Where is your favourite place to run?

Chester of course! So many beautiful parks, rivers and surrounding countryside to run around.

  1. What is your one piece of advice for newcomers to the sport?

The moment you start your training you ARE a runner, not just when you cross the finish line! The same is true if you are just starting out running, regardless of distance. It’s a matter of mindset. This little inspirational advice made a massive difference to many new runners motivation throughout their training journey. Accordingly, on your first day of venturing out you need to proclaim to yourself (and anyone else in earshot), “I am a runner!”, whether it be a 5K, 10K, Half, Marathon or Ultra Runner. Some days you’ll be raring to go and on others, where it’s freezing cold and lashing it down, you’ll want to sack the whole thing off and have a coffee and a cake. When you feel like the latter, these are the times when you need to force yourself to get out the house, even if it is a short run walk session, I guarantee you will feel better for it.

  1. Who do you love to follow on social for running inspiration?

Chester Marathon Half and 10K on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, we have lots of inspirational blogs, videos and content posted weekly.
