The organisers of The National Running Show Birmingham have announced a partnership with childhood cancer research charity Children with Cancer UK for the event taking place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th January at Birmingham’s NEC.

The partnership acknowledges the importance of fundraising within the running industry and complements the many race organisers, sports brands, retailers, nutrition and injury experts, communities and other charities who will be present at the third edition of the award-winning show.

Children with Cancer UK raises funds for vital specialist research to save the lives of children with cancer. The mission of the charity is to improve survival rates and the quality of survival in young cancer patients, and to find ways to prevent cancer in the future.

By partnering with Children with Cancer UK, the organisers of The National Running Show hope to inspire visitors at the show to put their running efforts towards raising money for this fantastic cause and making a difference to others. Running for charity is also a great incentive for runners, giving them added motivation as they train for an event and an extra boost to cross the finish line on race day.

Helping runners to achieve their goals will be a superb range of interactive Feature Areas at the 2020 show. These include The Ultra Zone, Obstacle Course Race, The Trail Zone, 3D Gait Analysis, Steve Cram’s Training Camp, Nutrition Advice Zone, Sweat Test Zone, Treadmill Challenge, Ask the Experts, All Terrain Running Zone and The Treatment Room.

Visitors will also be treated to a first-class Speaker Programme where they can listen to running greats including Sally Gunnell, Linford Christie, Dean Karnazes, Kriss Akabusi, Jo Pavey, Steve Cram, Susannah Gill, Jordan Wylie, Lazarus Lake, Camille Herron, Nicky Spinks, Mimi Anderson and Anna McNuff. The weekend schedule for the Inspiration Stage and Ultra Zone is available on the event website.

The Birmingham show expects more than 55,000 visitor ticket registrations for 2020, all of whom will be able to discover the latest kit, tech, nutrition and races from over 250 exhibitors, learn from inspiring speakers and improve their running technique thanks to the hands-on feature areas.

Mike Seaman, CEO of Raccoon Events, commented: “We are thrilled to partner with Children with Cancer UK at The National Running Show Birmingham. Children with Cancer UK carries out significant work in improving survival rates of children with cancer, supporting families affected and funding groundbreaking research to help children with cancer. It is a privilege to help raise awareness for the charity and to encourage runners to lace up and raise money for such a worthy cause. Many thousands of runners will walk through the doors of The National Running Show in January and we hope that many will be inspired to achieve their new year goals whilst supporting Children with Cancer UK. We cannot wait to welcome everyone to the show!”

Children with Cancer UK Acting CEO Mark Brider added, “We are delighted to be partnering with The National Running Show in 2020. We hope to inspire even more supporters to pick up their running shoes and take on sporting events across the country in aid of Children with Cancer UK. This partnership will help us raise awareness and funds for vital lifesaving childhood cancer research and support the 12 families in the UK each day who are given the devastating news that their child has cancer. We won’t stop until every child survives.”
