Kieran Alger

Kieran is a journalist and runner covering all things gear and running. From nutrition, shoes and watches, to more advanced performance tech like blood glucose monitors. If it claims to make you run better or enjoy running more, he has probably tested it.

He writes for many of the major titles like Runner’s World, Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, WIRED, etc and is one of the founders of The Run Testers, a YouTube channel that tests running stuff.

This year, Kieran set about fulfilling a dream 10 years in the making by becoming the first person to run the River Danube from sea to source, 1,830 miles in 67 days, running from Romania to Germany, carrying all his own kit in a 10kg backpack, which raised £10,000 to help poverty-impacted children worldwide.

He has also completed 49 marathons, came in the top 100 at the Marathon Des Sables and top 50 at the Half MDS, 7 marathons in 7 days, did a half marathon every day in December, 1 x 100 miler (1 might be enough) and failed to finish the Lavaredo twice (and is still annoyed about it).

Kieran also organises the annual Big End of Year Run, a free, turn-up-and-run chilled social half marathon around the sights of London on the morning of New Year’s Eve. It started with 3 runners back in 2013 and now has more than 300. It’s the best way to end and start the year.
