Steph Twell

Stephanie Twell made her Olympic debut at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, narrowly missing the 1500m final after finishing sixth in the heats.

At the Commonwealth Games in 2010 she won bronze in the 1500m, before returning to Team GB for Rio 2016.

She competed in both the 3,000m and 5,000m in Brazil, finishing eighth in her heat in the latter with a time of 15:25.90.

Twell ran her first competitive marathon in 2018 to see how it felt, and a year later broke Liz McColgan’s long-standing Scottish record with a time of two hours 26 minutes and 40 seconds.

She conquered hamstring issues – that caused her to pull out of the 2020 London Marathon – to gain selection for a third Olympic Games at Tokyo 2020.
