Minreet Kaur is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster and community leader dedicated to telling stories that drive change.
Over the course of her journalism career, she has worked for the BBC and Sky News and has written for leading national publications including The Independent, The Telegraph, The Guardian, Metro, iNews and many others. Her work has covered a wide range of issues, with a particular passion for amplifying underrepresented voices and highlighting stories that matter.
Minreet is also the founder of Asian Women Run, a not-for-profit community that empowers South Asian women to become stronger, healthier and more confident through running. Built around a "no PB" (no personal best) ethos, the group prioritises participation, community and representation over performance, creating a welcoming space for women who have traditionally been underrepresented in sport. Inspired by findings from Sport England that South Asian women are among the least physically active groups in the UK, the community exists to help women feel seen, visible and included in sport.
Alongside this, Minreet is a qualified swimming teacher, helping South Asian adults gain lifesaving swimming skills while breaking down cultural and practical barriers that have historically limited access to the water.
She is the daughter of the renowned Skipping Sikh, who was awarded an MBE for his contribution to health and fitness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Inspired by her family's commitment to community wellbeing, Minreet continues that legacy through her own work promoting health, inclusion and confidence.
Away from her professional and community work, Minreet is also a carer for her mother, who is living with myeloma, a rare blood cancer. This experience has deepened her understanding of resilience, compassion and the importance of supporting others through life's most challenging moments.
Whether through journalism, sport or community initiatives, Minreet's mission is simple: to give people a voice, create opportunities for others to thrive and inspire more diverse communities to feel empowered, represented and connected.
