25–26 Jan 2025 270 days to go! #RunShow

Alison Evans

I had always thought I couldn’t run until 2016 when a friend told me Parkrun were training people to be guide runners to give vision impaired individuals the opportunity to run. I thought I would give it a go and have never looked back. I attended my first Parkrun in July 2016 and became a Parkrun addict when Parkrun started up in my home town. I am no way a fast runner but I have managed to complete 2 10K runs. I consider myself very fortunate in that I have some excellent guide runners, some of whom have become good friends. For me, it is not just about running and getting a PB, but also the opportunity to have a good chat and catch up at the same time! Running has been a great way of meeting new people and making friends.
