The organisers of The National Running Show have confirmed that the 2020 event will take place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th January and the wheels are in motion to deliver the biggest and best show to date.
Returning to Birmingham’s NEC for the third consecutive year, the award-winning National Running Show will be building on the immense success of the last two years to bring runners an even greater selection of kit, tech, nutrition, advice, inspiration and races at the start of the new year.
The National Running Show 2020 will benefit from a 70% increase in floor space compared to this year, bringing together an exceptional range of sports brands, retailers, nutrition experts, race organisers, communities and expert speakers for the benefit of the running community.
Of particular excitement for 2020 is the announcement of another line-up of top speakers including British track star Sally Gunnell, Europe’s greatest ever 100m sprinter Linford Christie, ultramarathoner Dean Karnazes and 3-time Olympic medalist Kriss Akabusi. Visitors to the show will be able to hear top tips and anecdotes from their running heroes in what promises to be a packed speaker programme throughout the weekend, and more speakers will be announced over the coming months.
The 2020 show will also feature two new Obstacle Course Race courses, giving runners the chance to get active and involved in this full weekend dedicated to running. Once more there will be an opportunity to meet the experts, with fireside chats with ultra-runners at the Ultra Zone. The event has also made a commitment to carbon reduction through improved energy efficiency.
The interactive elements of The National Running Show have always been a huge attraction and the 2019 event welcomed vast numbers to its eight Experiential Stands. These included 3D Gait Analysis, Musco-Skeletal Zone, Foundation Training, The Run Clinic, The Rifle Run, The Treatment Room, Nutrition Advice Zone and The Treadmill Try Outs. Up to 20 feature areas will be available at the 2020 show, giving visitors a fantastic chance to find out more about specialist areas of interest, chat to those in the know and come away feeling informed and inspired about their choices.
Nearly 19,000 people attended The National Running Show 2019 and feedback from the show has been highly positive. The show hosted a total of 196 stands, of which 37 were retail, giving visitors a fabulous opportunity to try out and purchase the latest gear from top running brands. From big brands such as ASICS, New Balance, Ronhill, Saucony, Altra, On, Polar, Hilly and Hoka One One through to smaller brands not found anywhere else, the event provided a truly unique shopping experience with so many different brands under one roof.
Races, media partners, charities, nutritional advice and communities made up the 146 Service Stands at the show, and there was a huge buzz about the show as runners of all ages and abilities spent two days indulging in the sport they love.
The National Running Show 2020 is set to provide another superb day out for the entire running community, enabling runners to discover the latest kit, tech, nutrition and races from over 250 exhibitors, learn from inspiring speakers and improve their running performance through the hands-on feature areas.
Mike Seaman, Director of Raccoon Events, commented: “We are delighted to confirm that the third edition of The National Running Show will take place on 25th – 26th January 2020. After the overwhelming success of the show this year, to which we welcomed almost 20,000 runners over the course of weekend, we are thrilled to have an even larger floor space in 2020. We are looking forward to welcoming many more interactive feature areas, plenty of exciting extra elements and of course an incredible line-up of speakers. More details will be confirmed over the course of the coming weeks and months, and tickets are already available to purchase for this must-attend event for runners!”
