Looking to attend The National Running Show?
The opportunity
Running is the UK’s second most popular sport – with over 10.5m active runners running an average of 1-2 times per week. Almost half of runners enter competitive events at least once each year and almost 1m UK residents complete in a competitive half-marathon or marathon each year. Ultra running and OCR races have also burst onto the scene – driving mass participation and opening up new and exciting markets. Despite this mass participation, there is no large-scale dedicated running event in the UK – individual marathons run their own expos but they tend to be organised the week before the race (at which point the participants have purchased their kit, adopted a brand and completed their training.)
The National Running Show was created to rectify this issue. The event takes place in January – the time of year when they are most likely to purchase products, adopt a brand and to start training plans. This major national exhibition provides a scaled opportunity for brands to influence adoption before purchasing decisions have been made and to build loyalty right from the beginning. It also provides an opportunity for merchants to actively acquire a qualified audience of new customers.

Mizuno has exhibited at the National Running Show for three consecutive years and on each occasion it has got bigger and better. It is the perfect event for Mizuno to tell its running stories, showcase products and engage with consumers. From a brand perspective it’s a hugely engaging environment because of the range of runners that visit – elite athletes, recreational runners, first timers, even those that decide to get into running just from being inspired at the expo itself. Outside of the hustle & bustle of the brand stands sits the real jewel in the crown of the event and that’s the guest speakers. NRS does a great job bringing together some amazing athletes to inspire, engage and educate the show visitors, who undoubtedly leave the expo motivated to put into practice all that they have learned.

The 2024 National Running Show was the best yet for the Altra brand. Record Altra sales for our retail partner Up & Running. And after being at the show for the past 3 years the majority of people visiting the stand are now very aware of who Altra is and what makes us unique (our Foot shaped Toe Box and in the majority of our shoes ‘Balanced Cushioning’). This is a stark contrast to 3 years ago when we were still establishing ourselves in the UK market. The National Running Show has been a big help in raising Brand Awareness and we are thankful to the team at Raccoon Media Group for putting on such a successful event.
