Rat Race Bucket List is a collection of extraordinary adventures in ‘way out there’ locations across the globe. From Mongolia to Namibia via Panama, Malta, Patagonia and the Outer Hebrides. These events are tough challenges; but each features objectives that can be achieved by anyone with a sense of adventure and commitment. And we need you to help us test them.
“Before the events can go ahead, Rat Race send a small crack team of ‘Test Pilots’ out to test and perfect the route” explain Test Pilot in Chief Allie Bailey. “It’s our job to blaze the trail – we take on some epic adventures on routes that have never been traversed in this way before. A lot of Test Pilot events are world first crossings in extremely remote and beautiful places. They haven’t been done before and that gives you a real sense of achievement. To be among the first to take on these challenges is a huge privilege and something that can never be taken away from you”.
Rat Race are currently building on their portfolio of amazing global adventures and are on the lookout for Test Pilots to come and join them. “It takes a very special person to do this” explains Allie. “The routes are not perfected by any means and so this is a real adventure. We take a small team with us to work out how these experiences will work as an event – it’s the very definition of adventure. You are thrown in at the deep end and expected to swim – sometimes literally. The beauty of Test Pilot is that we work as a team – there’s no element of competition. We’re all in it together working as one to get from A to B, sometimes on foot, sometimes in kayaks and packrafts, sometimes on bikes – a lot of the time utilising all of the above! Our locations include deserts, jungles, volcanoes, ice caps, mines, nuclear testing sites – you name it, we’re probably doing it. You need a can do attitude and a real sense of adventure to be part of this team. I’m not exaggerating when I say Test Pilot completely changes your life. The skills you learn and experiences you have carry over to every single other part of your life.”
“We currently have about 30 trips in planning for 2021 and 2022, and we want to take the best possible people with us. You don’t have to be a super fit endurance athlete, you just have to want to commit to something extraordinary. You have to want to have an adventure like no other.”
