My background started with a BSc Sports Performance & Coaching focusing in sports injuries/rehabilitation. I then qualified as fitness instructor in a number of disciplines & then decided that I wanted to qualify as a Personal trainer. I worked in fitness from 2011 till 2015. Then came the career change.
I started running on and off back in 2014, it started when I was in-between classes at the gym and the need to improve my running fitness for a new job. It was never done for enjoyment just a need. In 2016 I ran my first Marathon, it just so happened to be London, I wasn’t prepared and when I finished I said never again. It wasn’t until flying out to Malaga half marathon December 2019 that I thought I would try it again. Sat in the airport I registered for Edinburgh Marathon. Due to Covid I haven’t run another marathon but I have it booked it for this year.
2018 was where my running really started, I moved to a new place and wanted something to do on the weekends and to see new places. I ran over 25 races that year and then the same again on 2019. 2020 started well but soon became the year of injury & I am only now in 2021 that I have started to run again just slowly.
My injury found my love for walking and I have enjoyed exploring the mountains, I started cycling & attempting to MTB. I love to be outside & love an adventure. You are only in this world the once you should make the most of what it has to offer.
Last year I set up a virtual 10k run & this year its a virtual 24 challenge where I will be running a mile one the hour every hour for 24hrs. The charity setup by Soroptimist International Barnstaple & District is called Knickers for Knowledge.
