Sam has always enjoyed running but only discovered trails and longer distances in her mid-40s after meeting a group of likeminded inspirational ladies living and working alongside her in Malawi. She completed her first 50-miler in 2022 coming 3rd lady (Peak District 50) and completely fell in love with the ultra-running. She completed Ultra-Trail Cape Town 100km and Ultra-Trail Drakensburg 100km whilst living in Southern Africa. On retuning to the UK in 2023 she went on to win The Lap (jointly Sept 2023), Winter Spine Challenger South (2024) and the Lakes Traverse (2024). Sam loves the outdoors and the freedom, space, joy and learning this brings. She is also mum to 3 busy kids and a children’s doctor and researcher.
