Spencer Matthews

Father of three, Spencer Matthews founded Clean, a no-alcohol alternative to your favourite drinks, back in 2019. With stockists across the country – from Sainsbury’s to Tesco – the company launched with Clean Gin and has since expanded to include Clean Rum, flavoured Clean Gin Editions, and even canned ready-to-drink cocktails. Clean create the most authentic products in this exciting new low-alcohol category.

Currently co-presenting BBC Sounds’ hugely successful podcast alongside Jamie Laing “6 Degrees with Jamie and Spencer”, Spencer Matthews is also a familiar voice in the podcast world. He presents Global’s popular podcast, “Spencer & Vogue” alongside his wife, Vogue Williams. Since its launch the podcast has amassed almost 15 million listeners.

In 2022 he filmed a documentary in which he travelled to Everest to find the body of his brother, Michael Matthews, who went missing 23 years ago. Nims Purja and Bear Grylls also appear in this 90 minute Disney Original.

He also launched a solo podcast project, Big Fish, where he meets inspiring and incredible people from influential CEOs to trailblazing creatives. BBC Sounds collaborated further with Spencer on a new podcast “Obsessed With…” which delved into the storyline of the BBC1 smash hit “SAS: Rogue Heroes.”

2021 saw Spencer come 69th out of 840 in the Marathon Des Sables, a trail with a 50% drop out rate and one of the hardest races on earth. He has completed 5 marathons, has an accelerated free fall licence with 23 jumps under his belt and was an Ice Ultra competitor.

Spencer is a director of The Michael Matthews Foundation, a charity set up by the family in memory of his brother Michael who sadly passed away at the young age of 22. Currently, around 4000 children are being educated at schools supported by MMF. The Charity’s focus is to provide an education to those whom without help would be unlikely to receive one at all. MMF also focuses on the construction of durable school buildings, and in particular dormitories for girls – tangible assets which deliver lasting benefits. Spencer has visited Tanzania several times in the last few years to assist in any way possible and will continue to do so.

In August 2024, Spencer completed a Guinness World Record – 30 Marathons in 30 days all on sand in Jordan, raising significant funds for Global’s Make Some Noise.
