25–26 Jan 2025 275 days to go! #RunShow

Edd Wright

I’m Edd and I live in Bristol. I took up running in early 2019. I was pretty unhealthy at the time and also being a father, I felt the need to start laying some form of foundation for a healthier future.

I entered my first 10K in May of that year and remember feeling a massive sense of accomplishment when I’d crossed the line and got my medal. It was such a great feeling seeing as a couple of months prior I could barely run 500m. It was from that point on that I was hooked.

I run for fun but do enjoy entering races and collecting medals because for me, each medal I earn represents a step further away from my previous lifestyle. I’ve set myself some pretty big goals for the next 12 months as I’ve entered a few marathons and ultras that I’m now working towards.

Running has become a huge part of my life. It’s instilled a great sense of discipline and focus, I also enjoy the freedom that it gives me. The most important thing that I feel running has taught me is – ‘don’t be a thinker, be a doer’. Instead of thinking about it, just get out there and get it done.

I’ve met some great people within the running community and I enjoy being a member. I also feel proud and honoured that I can call myself “a runner”.
