25–26 Jan 2025 245 days to go! #RunShow

Matt Banthorpe

My running journey started 8 years ago when I completed Couch to 5K in an effort to lose weight. I soon caught the running bug and have enjoyed taking part in everything from Park Run to 12hr overnight obstacle course races, Spartan Trifectas and Ultra-marathons.

My proudest running achievement was when I completed Equinox as a solo runner and covered 130km in 24hours, raising over £2,500 for Myeloma UK (a cancer of the blood which my Father has).

I also relish the opportunity to support others on their running journeys, whether that’s starting the couch to 5K or chatting food and fuelling for long distance challenges and ultras. My two boys George

(12) and Henry (9) are both running in Spartan Kids races to “be like Daddy”.

I’ve found a real joy in pushing myself further than I thought I ever could and this has had a massive impact on my mental health. Whenever I’m feeling depressed I lace up my trainers and go out and disappear on the trails for a few hours.

See you guys out on the course!
