Ravi was never the sporty type and in fact hated running since he was at school. By his mid-30s he was particularly overweight with a low fitness level and an on-off gym habit over the years. In 2014 he signed up to a 10K run when he could barely jog for 3 minutes. Taking part in the event and experiencing the amazing atmosphere he realised that anyone can run, regardless of speed, ability or shape. Since then running has gradually become a permanent lifestyle change and he likes to run for both general fitness and mental well being all year round regardless of the weather.
He has completed all distance running events from 5K to a full 42K marathon with the half marathon being a favourite distance to train for. For him, completing each training run or a race is a victory over the old unhealthy lifestyle he once had. He uses the mantra ‘I never regret a run” to find the motivation to lace up and get out there every time.
Ravi is also an UK Athletics Run Leader, founder of a local fun and friendly running group to help inspire the local community to get active and can sometimes be seen officially pacing big running events for finish times that were once out of reach for him.
