Richard Fletcher

I’m Richard mainly known as Fletch, I have been running since 2018 when I decided that after many years of applications I would run the London Marathon, which is where my running journey started.

Having had a bad rugby accident ending my carrier I like most got into bad habits and put on the pounds, to a point where a visit to the doctors changed my mentality and I did something about it.

On April 1st 2018 I stopped all the bad habits and focused myself into running a marathon, It was not easy and took a lot of my time and also changed my life, but with the correct mind set I went about my training.

From a 21 stone smoking male I ran my first half marathon in the October at the Royal Parks in a time of 2hrs 15mins, from there I pushed on, with some injury’s along the way I hit London in April 2019 and completed it in 5hrs 15mins, not the time I wanted due to injury but I had now become a marathon runner.

That was then the running bug, from there I have gone on to run many 10k and half marathons, all of which I have loved and achieved a 10k PB of 55:52 and now I am heading for a sub 2hr at the 2022 London landmarks hopefully

I also coach 7 ladies to running the London marathon, 3 have completed it and 3 are in for this year with the last to follow in 2023 (all known as ‘Fletch’s Angels)

I am also involved in the Runpod Run club FB group with the great Jenni Falconer which is a fantastic club and podcast.

Supporting the national running show is great as it is a fantastic event for all runners to attend and hear inspiring story’s along with amazing tips.
