The Schools Half Marathon is a non-competitive, cumulative Half Marathon challenge for primary school children aged 4-11. The youngsters run the first 12 miles over the course of a term at school, before completing the final 1.1 miles on a set day in front of family and friends. They receive the full race experience including race bibs, a marshalled route, music and a start and finish line gantry – as well as a fantastic t-shirt and medal for their efforts.
This is an exciting and inspiring initiative to get kids active! Coming from professional event organisers UK Run Events, the aim is to encourage healthy habits and make a difference to young people and families through running and face-to-face meet-ups at events.
The Schools Half Marathon Primary Schools Challenge has confirmed many new dates and fantastic locations for 2019, including Shropshire, West Sussex, Brighton & Hove and Stockport.
