Claire became European Champion in her age group for Triathlon in 2019. That same year she was aiming to gain her Professional Racing Licence but unfortunately a collision with a tractor during a training ride resulted in her sustaining a spinal cord injury. The injury left her paralysed from the waist down and ended her Triathlon career. Three years later, Claire is training hard and now an aspiring Para-Athlete, already competing and winning medals again. Claire is also a proud Ambassador for Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation and for their flagship event, The Wings for Life World Run. The World Run is a totally unique race: everyone starts at the same time, worldwide. Professional athletes, wheelchair users, fun runners and total beginners are all in it together against the Catcher Car, the moving finish line. The moving finishing line, the Catcher Car begins its chase 30 minutes after the start and passes one participant after another. There is no set distance – once you’re caught, your race is over. Fun runners, for example, make it to 5km. Ultrarunners power on to over 60 km. The best bit? 100% of all entry fees and donations go directly to spinal cord research to find a cure for spinal cord injury.
